Qu’elles soient positives ou négatives, les émotions ressenties influent considérablement sur notre capital visuel, tel est le cas du stress. En effet, lorsque les tissus conjonctifs sont affectés par des émotions survenues à cause du stress, ils créent petit à petit des micro-contractions.

D’après l’optométriste Pascal Barbey, si le stress persiste des mois durant voire plus, il risquerait d’impacter plus ou moins sévèrement la vision à moyen ou à long terme (picotements, altération de la vision de près ou de loin, déséquilibre musculaire de l’œil…). Pour cause, des changements commenceraient à apparaître suite à l’installation de tensions, aussi bien au niveau des globes oculaires qu’au niveau des tissus tout autour.

Par ailleurs, plusieurs expérimentations ont démontré qu’à chaque fois que le sujet changeait d’état d’esprit, des transformations s’opéraient au niveau de son champ visuel, de sa réaction pupillaire, etc. Dans cette optique, durant l’examen visuel, si les tests sont répétés à des reprises différées, il est possible d’avoir des résultats quelque peu différents en raison d’un stress quelconque.
