Nous rendons aujourd’hui hommage à Josef Rodenstock, fondateur de la société de fabrication de systèmes optiques, Rodenstock, laquelle célèbre cette année 140 ans d’histoire et d’innovations technologiques.

Né le 11 avril 1846 et décédé le 18 février 1932 à l’âge de 85 ans, cet industriel allemand doté d’un esprit d’innovation inégalable et d’une énergie débordante était célèbre pour sa passion et son inventivité qui ne connaissaient pas de limites.

En 1878, il crée la société « Optisches Institut G. Rodenstock », qui fabrique aussi bien des verres et des montures que des instruments de mesure. Quelques années plus tard, Josef Rodenstock développe, entre autres innovations, le « verre de lunettes à diaphragme », premier best-seller de la société et véritable succès commercial.
